Saints play for Justin and win 05 May 2017

Wellington extended their record to 11-0, after holding off a spirited effort from the James Blond Supercity Rangers to win 98-87.

After missing one game with a back injury, Corey Webster scored 37 points, and added six assists and four steals. Tai Wesley had 17 and Josh Duinker added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Saints who played their second to last game of the season at home.

The game looked like it was going to head down the path similar to their 37-point win in their last meeting after the Saints took a 23-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. But the Rangers scored 28 points in the second to trail by seven at the break.

Lindsay Tait would open the second half with a break-away layup to close within five points, but Wellington were able to push their lead back up to double-digits heading into the fourth quarter. The Rangers would then be shorthanded once Tait committed his fifth foul at the start of the fourth.

Despite playing in Taranaki the night before the Rangers fought hard to prevent the Saints from a blow-out victory. Mitch McCarron scored a game high 18, Tait added 17 and off the bench Daniel Green scored 12 for the Rangers who drop to 5-5.

In game number 401, Dillon Boucher, nearly had a triple-double of 14 points, ten rebounds, eight assists and four steals in 35 minutes.
