
The Pacific Jewellers Saints have won their eighth NBL championship in a tough final against the IMS Payroll Hawks.
The Saints had a battle in the first three quarters, but cam up trumps in the fourth, outscoring the Hawks 23-10 to claim a the 2014 Bartercard NBL title.
It capped off a fantastic weekend for the Saints, who won their semi-final against arch rival Nelson Giants 89-71.
MVP Corey Webster was again a standout for Wellington averaging 21 point in the two games. Point guard Lindsay Tait was named Finals MVP for his dominant display, and is up there with the NBL great, now winning a personal seven titles.
Americans Brandon Bowman and Bryan Davis each played a huge role for the Saints. Bowman scored 20 and Davis grabbed 17 rebounds in the final.
Wellington locals Dion Prewster, Damien Ekenasio and 17 year old Izayah Le'afa also contributed greatly to the Saints.
Coach Shane Heal won his first championship as a Head Coach, and got his troops to peak at the right time.
