The Wellington Saints will play in Taiwan later this year after accepting an invitation for the prestigious R. William Jones Cup.
Named in honour of basketball promoter Renato William Jones, who was one of the founders of the International Basketball Federation, it's a tournament which takes in both national teams and professional basketball teams.
The Tall Blacks used to regularly compete at it, winning it in 2000, while crowds of more than 12,000 are expected to attend games.
The invite came about through an agreement between Basketball New Zealand and the organiser to send the winner of the National Basketball League to the tournament - the Saints were the 2014 NBL champions.
Saints chief executive Nick Mills said it would be the biggest thing he had ever done in his 30 years with the team.
