Wellington Saints Media Release: 3rd December, 2013
Saints Sign Local Prewster
The Wellington Saints have signed local Dion Prewster, who returns after a successful stint with Hawke’s Bay.
Prewster began has NBL season with Wellington in the 2011 Championship winning side after spending three years playing collegiate basketball in the United States.
It was a breakout season for Prewster last season, averaging a career high 13.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the Hawks.
The versatile guard/forward is thrilled to be back after spending time with the Hawks and Southland Sharks.
“It feels great to be back playing at home again. All my family and friends are here for support. It's the best city to play in because of the fan support at home games. “
Recently Prewster has starred in one of Auckland's premier leagues, playing alongside last year’s most valuable player Lindsay Tait, who will be into his second in a three year deal with the Saints next season.
“Yeah he's probably the best point guard in the country and is a proven winner so to play with someone with his experience is definitely promising. He's always attacking the defense which opens up opportunities for others. Looking forward to the new season in 2014”
The former Junior Tall Black has been putting in the work in this of season and is focused very much on winning this season
“I'm not worried about anything else but winning. I just want to contribute and help the saints win games and ultimately a national title. I think this time round I have more to offer compared to my first year here with the wellington saints”.
The 2014 NBL season will begin in early April with now ten teams in the competition, with the Canterbury Rams confirmed.
