Saints record first win of 2023 Season

The Wellington Saints started their winning form last night with a resounding 112-91 victory over the Nelson Giants at the TSB Arena. The Saints were on fire from the opening tipoff, with an incredible display of offense that saw them rack up 30 points in the first quarter alone.

It was clear that the team was on a mission to get the first win of the season, and they did so in style, with a dominant performance that left the Giants struggling to keep up. The Saints' new signings, Isaiah Mucius and Izayah Le'afa, were impressive in their debut game, with Mucius making his presence felt on the defensive end, while Le'afa's experience with the team helped to steady the ship.

The game was a real team effort, with all players contributing to the victory, but it was Kyle Adnam who shone brightest, earning himself the MVP award with a stunning display of shooting and passing. Adnam finished the game with 28 points and 9 assists, while Marlon Taylor came off the bench to record a double-double with 13 points and 14 rebounds.

After the game, Saints General Manager Jordan Mills was full of praise for the team's performance. "This was a great win for us, and it was good to see our new players stepping up and making an impact right from the start," he said. "We're now on the road for the next three  games, so we'll be looking to keep this momentum going and bring home another couple of wins."

Despite being away from home, the Saints will be looking to maintain their impressive form as they take on the Canterbury Rams and the Southland Sharks in their next two games. With their sights set firmly on the championship, the team will be hoping to build on this latest victory and continue their form throughout the season.
