Long term partner Pak N Save providing for the community again!

The Wellington Saints are proud to support the development of youth basketball in New Zealand by bringing FREE, high-quality basketball skills training into schools in the greater Wellington Region. Students involved in the coaching program will have the opportunity to work with top performing NBL athletes in a series of training sessions that promote: fundamental basketball skills, teamwork, leadership, and FUN! This programme is fully accredited to Basketball New Zealand.

Every week, the Wellington Saints attended four schools from one of the following areas, Kapiti, Upper Hutt, Lower Hutt, Porirua and Wellington providing 2 x 45 minute coaching session, age appropriate.

For 2019, our Coaching in Schools hours increased, with the Saints reaching an extra 20% more schools plus several extra coaching days attended by the full squad with the amazing Hoop Kids holiday programmes run by Wellington Basketball Association, each one hosting an average of 150 children!

Pak’n Save Kapiti, Kilbirnie, Upper Hutt and Porirua together with Mother Earth once again partnered with the Wellington Saints in the 2019 season to offer students throughout the greater Wellington Region the opportunity to experience attending a professional basketball game and coaching sessions! The program provided each school that participated in the coaching sessions with 50 FREE child tickets to one of the nine home game match-ups at TSB Arena! Pak’n Save also sponsored 800 children tickets for every home game for the 2019 season, all of which were distributed to schools within the Wellington region.

The amazing teams at Pak N Save have confirmed to continue this for the 2020 season, with the Maryatt family (owners of Kapiti Pak N Save) saying "This will be our 12th year of being proud sponsors of the Wellington Saints. Through our previous supermarket and now Kapiti PAK’nSAVE we are excited to be back for another year in supporting the team in defending their title. We are also proud to continue the tickets in schools programme that gives kids the opportunity to attend the home games."

CEO Jordan Mills has said that the partnership with Pak N Save are not just a partner, but family. "Karl and Caroline have supported us for over the last decade, and that is very special to us. From what they provide to the Wellington Community, coming and supporting us at Finals games on the road and everything in between that they do for us at the Saints, to just being very genuinely good people. We at the Saints couldn't be happier to have them on board again. They have always gone above and beyond with us and we hope it continues for many years to come."
