Saints Storm Past Giants with Dominant Second Half Surge
The Mills Albert Wellington Saints delivered a powerhouse performance on Monday afternoon, dismantling the NBS Nelson Giants 105-65 at TSB Arena in front of a raucous home crowd.
Despite a tight and competitive first half, where the Giants came out with energy and matched the Saints blow for blow, the second half told a completely different story. The Saints locked in defensively, turned up the tempo, and unleashed a 20-minute clinic in team basketball that left Nelson in their wake.
Leading the charge was Nick Marshall, who was unstoppable on both ends of the floor. The swingman finished with a game-high 28 points and 12 rebounds, constantly attacking the rim and creating second-chance opportunities. Big man Nick Muszynski added 18 points and 5 rebounds, providing a steady interior presence and a reliable scoring option in the paint.
The night also marked the debut of promising young guard Keelan Magalogo, who got on the scoresheet and made an immediate impact with his energy signalling bright things to come in a Saints jersey.
With the win, the Saints hold top of the ladder.
The Saints will now turn their attention to Sunday’s clash against the Hawke's Bay Hawks, another key matchup as the team looks to maintain its early-season rhythm and protect home court once again.
Tip-off is set for 2:30 PM at TSB Arena—and if last night’s performance is anything to go by, fans are in for another high-octane display.
