Hawks best the Saints in season opener

The Wellington Saints were defeated by the Hawkes Bay Hawks in their opening game of the season at the TSB Arena. The game started on a sour note for the Saints when Kyle Adnam suffered an early injury that forced him to sit out the rest of the game. Despite the setback, the Saints put up a valiant effort, with 17-year-old Carter Berg-Mclean making his debut for the team. Taane Samuel was the standout player for the Saints, earning the game MVP title with 19 points. However, the Hawks ultimately emerged victorious, with a final score of 74-88. The Saints will look to bounce back this Thursday against the Franklin Bulls and turn the season around.
