Head Coach Signed for 2023
Wellington Saints sign a former player and assistant coach Troy Mclean to the Head Coach role for 2023.
Troy originally from Newtown who spent his college years at Rongotai College is excited about this new step in his already exciting basketball journey.
A stalwart of Saints Basketball having played the most games in the blue and whites playing 265 games, being the most capped Wellington Saints player in history including 4 championships, and most recently assistant coach during the 2022 season with the move to Head Coach to close out the season.
Troy’s coaching experience spans age grade and college basketball at Scots College, Queen Margret’s College, AAU, and NZBA Under 15s.
Troy has been working his craft by building a specialised basketball training and fitness business - Mov.E.
Working with some of the top youth, pro, and international players throughout Wellington. Tafara Gapare, Taane Samuel, and Lily Tauleilei to name a few.

Troy who is grateful for this next step says “Getting the best out of everyone is going to be the key to getting back our trophy”
