Mills Albert Saints Announce Open Trials for 2025

The Mills Albert Saints are proud to announce open trials for the upcoming 2025 season, providing a unique opportunity for local young talent to showcase their abilities and potentially earn a spot on the roster of one of New Zealand’s premier basketball clubs. The trials will take place at Ākau Tangi Sports Centre on Saturday, 15th February, from 11:00 AM. Selected players will also be invited to participate in an exclusive invite-only session on Sunday, 16th February.

Over the years, the Saints' open trials have proven to be a launchpad for budding basketball stars. Notable alumni such as Carter Berg-McLean, Arthur Pilcher, and Hassan Munir have successfully transitioned from open trial participants to wearing the iconic Saints jersey. This pathway continues to highlight the club’s commitment to fostering local talent and giving players a platform to succeed.

Saints General Manager Jordan Mills expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming trials:

“I love the ability to have open trials here in Wellington. Not only have we been able to unearth talent every year that has made our roster, but it’s also a great community event where spectators can watch a lot of our up-and-coming talent. The introduction of Rapid League has also given more opportunities for young players coming through the ranks to showcase their skills on a national stage, which we are looking to get from our trials in February.”

In addition to scouting talent for the Saints, the trials align with the club’s broader mission of fostering basketball’s growth in Wellington. The community is encouraged to attend and witness the high-level talent vying for a spot on the team.
