Pak n Save Coaching in Schools

As our coaching in schools program begins to wrap up in the next week, we wanted to say a huge thanks to every school that let our coaches come in to your school environment to share the love of ball with your young people.

This year, with many disruptions we manged to visit a record 43 schools in the wider Wellington region. Schools from Wainuiomata, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Kapiti Coast, Wellington Central, Wellington Suburbs and Porirua.

We engaged with approximately 1,700 different young people across these 43 schools, teaching everything from hand eye coordination, basic basketball skills, how to have strong communication, advanced basketball skills and most importantly how to have fun within sports.

Through our partnership with Lower Hutt Pak n Save we were able to gift approximately 7,800 tickets across the schools we visited to our 9 home games this season, using a request system to make sure these tickets were getting to the right people to enjoy our home games.

The feedback we have received from schools has been heart-warming, things like:

“We haven’t seen our young people engage like this before”

“The way the coaches took time for each young person shows the skill level of the coaches, not one person was missed when going over skills, your 2, hour long sessions were run so well and never lost any engagement or buy in from our young people, which is often a struggle”

“Thanks for spending time with us, we now have an avid Saints fan club at school”

“We don’t get opportunities like this normally in our community, we’re often missed from the Wellington teams, so for your coaches to make the drive really makes a world of difference for us”

This is why we do what we do, we play the game to engage the next generation, we can’t wait to continue our coaching in schools this year and keep growing the Saints Family.
