Saints partner with WBA to bring Saints Youth Academy to life

A partnership we are humbled to be a part of. Wellington Basketball Association truly go above and beyond for our tamariki and work in excellent ways to nurture their talent and growth in all aspects. Whilst we are proud of our on court legacy, we are even more so of how we can contribute to our local community.

Wellington Basketball Association -

One of the greatest challenges in modern history is learning how to come together and truly work towards a common purpose, knowing that “time” is the most precious resource we can give a child is also equally, the main ingredient working against them.

So from adoption to graduation, our attitude towards youth and coach development is changing. From 2021, it’s now about engagement and to achieve this for the Wellington region, arguably the most winningest professional sporting franchise in New Zealand sports history has climbed on board to make it a reality.

The Wellington Saints organization and their 39 year history in our sport is legendary, threaded with a wealth of experience and resources to work alongside our strategies around youth and coach engagement and their continual growth in our game.

The Saints Youth Academy is for every boy and girl aged 9 to 17 years of age in this region who are keen to engage and explore their own growth. It is this intimacy that Wellington Basketball will learn much more about its athletes and how we now select our regional and national representative teams.

Exploring your excellence. Build better people. The Saints Youth academy is a partnership designed to surround your son and daughter with some good people -

Ceo Jordan Mills says of the partnership, "We are extremely excited to be working with Wellington Basketball Association to create the Saints Youth Academy, the content all created by assistant coach Troy McLean along with other members of the Saints/WBA coaching programmes."

He adds, "The Saints are a proud community based Basketball team, we also do our Coaching in schools programme every year partnered with Kapiti Pak N Save which is incredible. Being able have to have the addition of the Saints Youth academy only produces another pathway for our tamariki coming through."

We look forward to seeing the continuation and growth of the young talent in our game and look forward to seeing the Saints Youth Academy flourish under WBA.
