Second Generation Saint Returns
A warm welcome back to 2022 stand-out Francis WiNeera-Mulvihill, who will return for his second year with the Wellington Saints and his fourth in the NZNBL.
The 23-year-old FJ has spent this "off-season" playing in the Ireland Super League, using this time to perfect his craft, and is ready to hit the floor on April 8th when we return to the TSB Arena.
FJ speaks highly of the last few months spent in Ireland:
"This off-season I got the opportunity to go over and play in the Ireland SuperLeague as one of the imports for my team. This has definitely helped me grow and mature as a player. Iām super pumped to be back playing at home and am excited to contribute to the team.
Contributing to the team is something coach Troy McLean is excited about with the returning FJ as he mentions below:
"FJ has been competing and playing really well in Ireland so will be game ready when he returns home. His athleticism and growing basketball experience will be a lethal weapon for our team."
We're excited for FJ to take the court in blue again for 2023. FJ's dad Frank Mulvihill played for the Saints during the '80s and has been a key part of the Wellington basketball scene since, having local players with local roots is an important part of the Saints' makeup and we're proud to have roots deep with the returning FJ.
