BEN AYRE BRINGS AUSSIE FIRE TO MILLS ALBERT SAINTS IN 2024! 

Wellington, 26/12/23 — The Mills Albert Saints are elated to announce the signing of Australian guard Ben Ayre, who will join the Mills Albert Saints for the upcoming 2024 NZ NBL season. As the first import signing for 2024, Ayre is set to inject a potent mix of talent, tenacity, and Aussie spirit into the Saints lineup.

Coach Zico Coronel expressed his excitement, stating, "I'm pleased Ben will be joining us with the Saints for the 2024 NZ NBL season. He's a proven performer at the Australian NBL level, who continually has exhibited improvement throughout his career. The fire he plays with will be instrumental in forging a culture of competitiveness. His skill set will exert considerable pressure on the opposition."

In the Australian NBL, Ayre left an indelible mark, with a breakout season with the Cairns Taipans. Despite facing challenges, including a knee injury, Ayre's determination shone through. In his sixth appearance for the Taipans, he scored a team-high 20 points with 10 assists, earning him a place alongside the league's elite. Ayre continued to impress with the Cairns Marlins and the Sandringham Sabres, earning All-Star Five honors in NBL1 South.

Ben is currently suiting up for the South East Melbourne Phoenix where he is averaging 10 points, 1.6 assists, 1.3 rebounds and shooting at 46% from the field and being one of the league leaders in 3 point percentage all season.
